As the title says, these are random thoughts. Readers are requested not to look for any theme.
I generally switch on my tv in the morning and invariably end up watching Marathi news channels so that I can understand what is going on in my neighborhood.
Also invariably, I curse myself for doing this. Under the name, Maharashtra live, the news is simply ridiculous. First it is full of stories about rape, murder, suicides and accidents. Graphic unwatchable videos are shown from villages you do not even know exist. All these news are few days old. After watching them you feel as if this is the only thing happening in Maharashtra.
Next come news about politicians. You can imagine what could be the content.
These channels take special pride in airing views of politicians whom the voters have rejected long back. Headlines of one particular news paper are read out daily, probably because nobody buys it these days.
Some mention is made about international news. Our PM is ridiculed for traveling abroad. Sports news consist of cricket and IPL, as if that is the only sport in the world. Achievements of other sportspersons never feature in these broadcasts.
One should learn how to distort news from these guys. Some person said that if you have four kids, send one to RSS. This news was reported but if was conveniently removed.
On Republic tv all you can hear is shouting.
Switching tracks. My only comment about the NEET paper leak is that ours is a corrupt nation, right from grassroot level. We need to cleans ourselves. I do not see that happening any time soon. The difference between the haves and have nots is also a reason. But this is how today’s world works.
The Metro work in Thane is not proceeding. I wonder why? What was the hurry to inaugurate Thane metro by running it barely one kilometer? Politicians, I tell you.
I came to know the name of o Thane politician’s wife when suddenly I saw roads in Thane littered with her name. Few days back her husband and his son had also featured similarly.
After women reservation, some corporation wards are reserved for women. Invariably wives of politician are elected on party ticket. Later these wives become invisible.
On a cheerful note, streets of Thane city, though mostly dug up, are lined with trees. In summer, it is a rainbow of colours. The green trees, the red gulmohar, the bougainvillea and the beautiful Bahawa. In today’s heat, these are treats for the sore eyes.
